Just a few programming-related links I want to keep track of:
This is interesting…it seems that “the ‘@’ symbol has been added to morse code”:http://www.cjonline.com/stories/021704/pag_morsecode.shtml. <sarcasm>Few…what a relief. Next time I’m using Morse Code I can easily give the other person my email address! </sarcasm>
(Link from “LockerGnome”:http://channels.lockergnome.com/news/archives/009057.phtml)
John Udell has an interesting descussion talking about some of the issues surrounding “Gender, personality and Social Software”:http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/2004/02/17.html. It’s an interesting read.
I guess during the stperbowl pepsi had a pretty bad ad featuring people sued by the RIAA for downloading/sharing music via a P2P network. Well, “someone created a great parody blasting the RIAA for it’s actions”:http://nmc.siu.edu/~pepsi/
The BBC has an interesting project. “Spot the Fake Smile”:http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/smiles/index.shtml. They show you 20 short clips of people smiling and you are supposed to pick whether it’s a fake smile or a real one. I got 14 of 20.
Yahoo has a breif story from Reuters talking about how “scientists have discovered how homing pigeons navigate”:http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/nm/20040205/od_nm/life_pigeons_dc. In short, they follow the roads, like we do!
Here’s a cool little project. “PCTHiker.com”:http://www.pcthiker.com has instructions on how to “make your own lightweight backpacking stove out of a pepsi can and a Guinness can”:http://www.pcthiker.com/pages/gear/pepsiGstoveinstruct.shtml.
Finally I can stop worrying about whether I remembered to rewind my DVD’s or not. Someone is offering a DVD rewinding service over the internet! Just a dollar…what a deal!
(This little bit of sarcasm was brought to you by: Anything but ordinary)

If you’re like me and watched only 5 minutes of the superbowl, you can catch up on all the ads that the game featured. “IFILM has posted all the ads in the Superbowl Ad Archive”:http://www.ifilm.com/?sctn=collections&pg=superbowl2004
I was checking out “ErosBlog”:http://www.erosblog.com/arc20040101.htm#BlogID1800 (Caution: Not Safe For Work) when I came across a link to a very funny “review of the new Viagra-like drug Levitra by Halley Suit”:http://www.halleyscomment.blogspot.com/2004_01_25_halleyscomment_archive.html#107551834357199327. Very funny…especially for Superbowl Sunday!
