BayesianFiltering for MovableType

Friday, October 24th, 2003

I don’t get too mayn comments in my blog. I’m not doing this to entertain people…mostly just for my own amusement! Anyway, I can’t stand SPAM. lately I’ve been seeing more and more spam comments so I decided to implement James Seng’s “Bayesian filter for MT”:http://james.seng.cc/archives/000152.html. This Rocks! “I’m already a big fan of Bayesian filters for email”:http://www.droyer.org/~dave/archives/000309.php and this sounds like a good application for it as well.

How not to install computer hardware

Tuesday, October 21st, 2003

“Hardware Analysis”:http://www.hardwareanalysis.com has a great article about installing computer hardware. This one takes a different approach than most in that “it tells you how NOT to install your hardware”:http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1672/. For example, it recommends that you unscreq every possible screw you can find, including the ones holding the power supply and you should do this wilhe the computer is still running! Very funny read!

Tabs and Stylesheets

A List Apart has a nice article about creating tabs using stylesheets rather than individual graphics. It’s a very nice design that seems very easy to maintain over time.

Was the Apollo Moon landing Faked?

Saturday, October 18th, 2003

No! Here’s a great site that “debunks a ton of the conspiracy theories that have been thrown around regarding the Apollo Moon Landing”:http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html. It was written to counter a Fox TV show about the topic. The author makes a very detailed analysis of the FOX TV program. Even without seeing the TV show, it makes good reading. Beer Helps Sherrif’s Deputies End Standoff

Friday, October 17th, 2003

This was just a little too funny not to pass on.

Google’s PageRank is dead

Thursday, October 16th, 2003

Jeremy Zawodny has an interesting article about how “the prevalence of Blogs has affected google’s PageRank so profoundly”:http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000751.html. It will be interesting to see if google really is trying to ’solve’ this ‘problem’, as talked about in the article.
