The Great Tantra Challenge, from BoingBoing
On 3 March 2008, in a popular TV show, Sanal Edamaruku, the president of Rationalist International, challenged India’s most “powerful” tantrik (black magician) to demonstrate his powers on him. That was the beginning of an unprecedented experiment. After all his chanting of mantra (magic words) and ceremonies of tantra failed, the tantrik decided to kill Sanal Edamaruku with the “ultimate destruction ceremony” on live TV. Sanal Edamaruku agreed and sat in the altar of the black magic ritual. India TV observed skyrocketing viewership rates.
I ran across a hilarious video on digg featuring an (what looked like to the audience) an impromptu musical in a food court in a mall. The video and musical were put on by the Improv Everywhere group. The video and production information can be found on the Improv Everywhere website. The video can be found below.
BoingBoing has has a link to a great Flowchart of medieval sexual decision making. The flowchart is from an interesting sounding book, The Wages of Sin: Sex and Disease, Past and Present
Found this link on BoingBoing. This is an ingenious way to solve a very difficult maze using some creative photoshop techniques. How to solve a maze with Photoshop
Excerpt:
1. Increase contrast.
2. Select the right wall of the maze using the magic wand.
3. Select > Modify > Expand 4 pixels
4. Create new layer.
5. Fill with Red.
6. Select > Modify > Contract 2 pixels.
7. Delete. Now you’ve got a line tracing the solution.
8. Manually clean up the outer edge, and connect the dots.
9. Cake!
Mr. Lee CatCam is a site dedicated to the travels of a cat! His owner attached a camera to his collar and has posted some of Mr. Lee’s adventures. (Link from BoingBoing)
I found this link over on BoinbBoing earlier this week and ment to post it for several knitting friends out in Seattle. Citizen Skein brings us annatomically correct knitting projects. I’m particularly fond of the uterus that can (apparently) play the piano! There’s something for everybody!
A scientist has come up with some very cool models of M.C. Escher’s paintings. It would be very interesting to see these in person but the images are pretty amazing themselves. (Link from fark)
Very strange. It seems that someone has decided the world needs a virtual church for people to attend. Slashdot has the SimChurch article link.
